Like most of the fandom today, I've been mourning the passing of Andy Hallett. Lorne is, without question, my favorite AtS character; he has a snappy wit and a nurturing warmth that I've always imagined are qualities that his creator must have possessed in good measure as well. Simultaneously fabulous and matter of fact, Lorne is like the fantastic, improbable offspring of Liberace and Bea Arthur. And something green.

Mr. Hallett's shiny light surely will be missed. Doll!fic and haiku might not be appropriate memorializing media, but it's all I got.

Cue up the Thelma Houston . . .
don't leave me this way.

Aw, thank you so much. It didn't feel right to let the moment pass without doing something to honor him, and I was hoping that it wouldn't seem disrespectful to, er, say it with dolls.

Thank you, Dio. :)

[Sidenote: I got all misty while I was making this, which hasn't happened (while playing with dolls, anyway!) since I was a kid; I wasn't allowed Barbies until I was almost too old for them, so there were all sorts of elaborate, morbid doll melodramas. Sad!]

Thank you, dear! He was so talented, and he seemed like a genuinely sweet person. I was so sad after I heard the news, and I immediately asked several friends to "no matter what, please don't let me make poorly-conceived memorial doll!fic and be forever banned from the fandom." *snort* Some friends!

Thank you, sweetie. What a great character, and AH himself seemed like such a genuine sweetheart.

*pets you*

I couldn't resist the Thelma Houston song; the intro to "Life of the Party" where starts singing it may be my all-time favorite Lorne moment. Every time I see it, I think, "Don't cut! Let Lorne sing the song!"

Thank you. He just seemed like such a sweetheart that I felt the need to do something, however small.

Aw, thank you. I really wanted to do something, but it was one of those things where I just couldn't tell if my offering was going to come off as touching or wrong-headed. Glad it said what I wanted it to!

It was terrific. I suspect Hallett himself would've approved.

Oh, thank you, Kathleen! Wasn't he a lovely man? He'll truly be missed.

Aww, sweetie. Thanks for letting me know. You did a lovely job with this tribute. As always, your photos always capture moments perfectly.

Thanks, honey. I just adored him and really wanted to do something but was worried that I might offend. I'm relieved to hear that it did what it was supposed to do.

That brought tears to my eyes. It kinda makes it real and final. I think you did beautifully.

Thank you, sweetie. I never expected to get all misty while playing with dolls, but I really wanted to do something in his memory and it just kind of happened.

Hope you've had a lovely day. *hugs* Good weekend to you!

offspring of Liberace and Bea Arthur. And something green.

This made me smile :-) But I didn't smile when I found out about his death. Lorne was definitely my favorite AtS character, and Andy was the biggest part of that.

*nods* I think it's a role that they wrote specifically for Andy, and I think that a lot of the generosity that comes through in Lorne was probably largely just a natural part of him. He'll be missed, that's for sure.

Happy Friday to you, darlin.'

A perfect memorial, Mere.

Andy kept it light on what could be a very dark show.

Thank you, dear. I had misgivings about dolls being the way to go, but I really wanted to do something to remember him.

*nods* Word. I'm not sure I could have hung with the show as long as I did if it hadn't been for him. I distinctly remember perking up during his first appearance and applauding.

*nods* I knew he'd been ill but hoped he was getting better. I'm going to have to have a mini Lorne-a-thon very soon.

In completely unrelated news, it's Friday! One week closer to the end of this crappy term. Woot!

Yeh, and while I agree with the 'crappy term' part, the end of the term means packing up my office and some pretty serious bittersweetness. I'm not necessarily looking forward to that. Overall, this term (and note that we old school people still say 'term') has not been horrible, except for the part that involved being afraid that I might have to give up my life's calling. The teaching part was ok, but I understand that things have been a pain over there.
