I'm home sick with a sick kid today and thought I'd finish shepherding the stray Spaiku homewards. Guess I'm gonna have to start writing some new ones now, huh? Or do some actual housekeeping . . .

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Spike and Buffy will never be mine. *sobs* I'm okay with it. Really.
A/N: A little more magic & consequences. Four angsty haiku from the final moments of "Tabula Rasa," BtVS, S6. Written for the Spring 2008 round of [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy and dedicated to the always-inspirational [livejournal.com profile] beanbeans.

I.
The farce is over.
No relief from the stark truth:
everyone leaves her.

II.
Numb with misery,
she spurns his silent offer.
Fine--he's had enough.

III.
Stricken, she jumps up,
goes after him, determined
to make someone stay.

IV.
Ravenous kisses:
the spell may be broken, but
they’re no less bewitched.

Gawd, I *love* this one. That last just kills me.

You're so sweet, Ms. Mere. *squishinates you*

I hope your kiddo feels better soon.

Aw, I'm so glad that it still works for you! *smooooosh* That beautiful "hands" drabble of yours just made me want to go spend some more time in that moment.

Thank you, dearie. She's doing much better today. :)

Re: Look at you making me misty with haiku

Wow, thank you so much! I'm thrilled to have, er, misted you. Srsly, I love it when I can make someone laugh, but mistiness is the highest compliment of all. I'm so glad you're enjoying these. And heeeee! to "the new black." I'm feeling very cosmopolitan now.

Happy Friday!

I love all of these. So much feeling in so few lines. Really excellent.

Thank you very much, darlin! I'm so glad you enjoyed them. Happy Saturday!

Brilliant!

This between-scene haiku shows Buffy's desperation.
#III Stricken, she jumps up,

Love your words -stark, numb, stricken. That kiss was wonderful, but Buffy was in a bad place.

Your spaiku always bring the episode to life.

Thank you so much, Louise! [livejournal.com profile] beanbeans wrote a beautiful drabble about that moment, and it made me think more about how they got to it.

And thanks for the lovely Christmas card! I got it yesterday and it's on my mantel. I'm so pokey that I usually send out New Year's cards, so look for yours in a little bit. (Hey, at least I try to get them out before Groundhog Day! Heh.)

Oh, the pretty angst! *loves*

Favorite: Fine--he's had enough. Because that is exactly what you see on his face when he turns away.

Thank you! I'm not sure that I would have written so many of these things if it weren't for JM's performance; he's so good at communicating what's going on in Spike's head with just a look that it draws you right in. "Ooh, what's Spike thinking there? We must do more research. For science!" *lol* Hi, I'm an enormous dork.

From: [identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com

Hahaha! It's so true. Sometimes I think that I'm only such a big fan of JM because he's so very pretty, but then I'll watch an episode, and I'll remember, "Nope. He really is that talented." And then I feel vindicated.

And hey, I'm an enormous dork, too. I'm convinced we have more fun in life than the people who have to be sophisticated and ironic all the time.

I couldn't agree more. ;)

Fine--he's had enough vs. determined to make someone stay. Sigh. There are no winners in this match-up. *mopes*

Beautiful, as always.

Aw, thank you. That moment just kills me--it feels like the right thing but it's for all the wrong reasons. *sniff* Poor lambs!

*whispers* BTW, I may have recced your limericks. I just couldn't help myself!

Whoa. That just blows me away. I'm speechless and in awe at the beautiful simplicity of it.

Ooh, another lost comment! Stoopid LJ.

Wow, thank you. Sometimes I feel a little nervous about the more serious sets of haiku, and it means a lot to me that you liked these.
